Everything you need to know about competing in RIFT UK
Want to know how the league runs? Check out this timeline, right from registration to winning the trophy/promotion spot!
RIFT UK uses "fearless" for its drafting. This means champions picked in previous rounds (of the same match) cannot be picked again, by either side.
We believe every match should be played to the fullest. Forfeiting a match is not allowed and must be played until a nexus explodes.
On the scheduled time, each team must arrive and be in a prepared, ready state up to 20 minutes after the agreed upon time. (If the match is scheduled for 5pm, the draft MUST begin before 5:20pm). Failure to show up in time will award the other team one round (from the BO3).

Players looking to compete must be using an EUW account that is over level sixty (60), be over the age of eighteen (18), and at minimum have a peak rank in the past two most recent years of Platinum II. Similarly, a maximum peak rank of Masters 0LP (again, within the two most recent years) is enforced to ensure the tournament remains competitive for all those involved. Having a player either below or above these peaks will result in two matches forfeit and a warning. Further infractions will lead to disqualification and blacklisting.
Each team must comprise of five (5) players. All players have to join the Discord and register on the website prior to playing in the season. Substitutes are only allowed to be added inbetween seasons and not during.
RIFT UK follows the same ruleset as Riot when it comes to accounts. No sharing accounts under any circumstance. All registered players must submit the IGN of their highest peak account as their official account. Any smurfs or alternate accounts need to be disclosed in the additional info section of the team registration form.
Group stage matches are Best of 3 (BO3), semi-final matches are also Best of 3 (BO3). The Grand Final is Best of 5 (BO5).
Matches must be played on the designated date. If both teams cannot show, they may re-schedule the game for no later than two (2) days after the initial time.
RIFT UK uses "Fearless" draft. Champions picked in previous rounds of the same match cannot be picked again by either side. Bans are not included, and may be re-used.
Each lobby must use tournament style drafting, and use the in-game drafting tools unless an account does not possess the champions required, at which point Drafterlol may be used, and the lobby set to blind pick. This may only be done with consent from both teams. Streamed games may not do this, and have to use the in-game draft only. Side selection is decided through seed; the lower seeded team may choose red or blue. Following game one (1), the loser may choose their side, and repeat.
Pauses may be used for emergency situations, such as a disconnect or other play-breaking circumstances. Pauses may last up to ten (10) minutes. Abusing constant pauses will result in a round being forfeit. During a pause, players may not talk about the game, and must keep comms to a minimum.
Whence in game, coaching staff may remain in the VC but muted, and may not speak again until a nexus explodes. Any external staff or substitutes that are not actively in game must leave the VC prior to the games beginning.
Each team must be ready to play within 20 minutes of the scheduled match time. Failure to show up in time will award the opposing team one round from the BO3, repeated until either the opponent shows up or the game is won.
Forfeiting a match is not permitted. Every match must be played to a nexus explosion. Repeated forfeits may result in disqualification.
RIFT UK expects its players, substitutes and staff to maintain a professional standard in respect and kindness towards one another. Being toxic, racist, discriminatory or otherwise hateful will lead to repurcussions for yourself and, depending on the situation, your team.
Any attempts at cheating, whether in game or by external means (like coaching staff speaking during game time) will result in an instant forfeit of the match. Continued practise will result in disqualification and a blacklist from future seasons.
For minor infractions, a warning system will be in place. Things like mild toxicity, showing up in an untimely manner. More serious offences will result in direct and immediate action to either one's presence in the league, or the team as a whole.
To raise a dispute or appeal, please contact Joseph "Taurishe" either through our support email, or on Discord (IGN: FrostedSpark)
All admin decisions are final. RIFT UK administration reserves the right to make rulings on situations not explicitly covered by these rules.
At the end of each season, the team finishing 1st in Division 2 is promoted to Division 1 for the following season. The team finishing last in Division 1 is relegated to Division 2. Promotion and relegation are determined by group stage standings only — playoff results do not affect divisional placement.
The story behind the UK's grassroots LoL circuit
Founded in Spring 2026 by Joseph "Taurishe" when it became apparent that there were no local English speaking leagues.
Rift UK has been made to further push the grassroots up-bringing of future talent and help be the stepping stone to secure positions in stronger tournaments.
Our community is made of like-minded, passionate players and staff alike who all strive to perform their absolute best! We aim to foster a positive and welcoming environment for all!
At RIFT UK we believe that everyone should play their best, and abide the rules that follow the league, for the betterment of everyone!
Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness. Whether you're a girl-gamer, LGBTQIA+ or anything else, rest assured you will be treated equally here.
RIFT UK was created to be a stepping stone. For players strong enough to compete in competitive environments, but not quite UKEL/NLC/EMEA level. We also want to provide casting and production roles for people to see if it's something they want to work on, and include in their experiences in a resume!
Heyo! I'm Joseph, AKA Taurishe! Been playing LoL for 5 years now (oh lord). I main Braum and Rakan and (as of writing this) I peaked Diamond IV 63LP!
